Just like the current Tim Burton movie, take your own spin on the old classic. Re-invent who Alice is and how she interacts in her world. What is the story about? Conquering fear? Getting lost and finding your way home? Or about not fitting inside your world (think about her shrinking and growing)?

Find some inspiration in old black and white movies. Create a dance inspired by classic Hollywood. Think glitz and glamor. Think of all the old charisma and poise that we no longer have in Hollywood today. Infuse this old way of life in not only your dance steps, but also the characters that your dancers portray on stage.

Psychedelic
Create a dance featuring a clash of colors. Have different dancers in different colors and like the picture below have them collide and interact. Or put your dancers in white and paint the hands of each of them with different colored paint. As the dance progresses have them wipe the paint onto their costumes, literally painting the color onto themselves and each other.

Sweet Tooth
Create a dance about Candy for your smaller dancers. Have them dance around with candy pillows to a song like "I like candy." Use the pillows as part of your dance or have your dancers place them around the stage before they start to create a set.

Pick Some Flowers
Pick flowers as you dance. Spread flowers around the stage before you begin or as a part of your dance. As the dance progresses, pick up the flowers one by one and slowly build a bouquet. By the end of the dance you'll have all your flowers back and will have a beautiful prop to dance with.

Dance Like Time Stands Still
Create a dance centered around the concept of time. Let time stand still, and get faster and slower. Use clocks on stage to show progression of time or time going backwards. Have your dancers wear clocks to show where they are in the time line.

Fabric Everywhere
Use fabric as a part of your dance. Just like the dance of the 7 veils, attach long strips of fabric onto your costume. Have the dancer remove several pieces as the dance continues. Include fabric everywhere. Cover panels of the floor with fabric that can be interacted with and used in your dance.

AstroTurf!
Dance on the grass (just make sure you bring your own!). Bring a platform that is covered in AstroTurf and dance barefoot. Make your dance about spring or summer and frolic through the sunshine (or stage lights).

Just Make Sure You Change the Perspective
Create a dance in bed, but turn the bed like you see in the picture below so that the audience sees things from a different angle. You can jump back and forth, or dance on the bed as if you are lying down. Make the dance about a dream, or your morning routine. Have your dancer eventually get out of bed and move downstage to show them starting their day.

Dance to worship the sun! Create a dance that is inspired by warmth, light, and sunshine. Look to the heavens and profess your appreciation for the life giving blessings of the sun. Sometimes we forget to look outside and really enjoy the beautiful weather around us. Let your dance remind us to go outside!
